800g Challenge comes to SCCF

What is it?

This challenge was designed by OptimizeMe Nutrition and the premise is super simple:

Eat 800 grams (g) of fruits and/or vegetables, by weight, per day.

No foods are eliminated, but only fruits and veggies count toward the 800g. Eat the fruits and veggies or your choice. Hit the macros you want.

Raw, cooked, canned, frozen; doesn’t matter!  If you can weigh it as a standalone and unprocessed fruit or vegetable, you can count it. Yep, that’s it! Here's a one-sheet with all the rules and scoring details.

So why 800g? It’s associated with increased health and is a simplified way to hit those recommended servings of fruits and vegetables. If you’d like more in depth information about it click here.

When will it be running?

Monday August 19th - Sunday September 15th

How do I sign up?

The ZenPlanner store will have tickets available in it until August 18th. You will be able to purchase a ticket here or by using the iPad on the gym desk.

Who is it for?

The challenge is designed to be so simple that anyone can take part! Also, because exercise is not a mandatory part of the challenge, even non-members are welcome to take part - just buy yourself a place here.

Where can I ask my questions?

We will be hosting a meeting at SCCF to go over all the challenge rules and answer your questions. Be sure to be there to meet others and ask any questions you might have

How will it be scored?

We will be using SugarWOD to log scores, show a leaderboard, and fist bump throughout the challenge. These scores will be on a private track so only other 800g Challenge participants will be able to see them. More info on scoring and logging can be found here.

Are there any prizes?

Oh yeah! We’re putting up some pretty cool prizes for this one!

1st place = a pair of Reebok Nano 9s (released in the UK on August 15th)

2nd place = a Reebok CrossFit Day BackPack

3rd place = a £25 Reebok voucher

What else do I get?

As well as reaping the health benefits of focusing on a small part of your nutrition for four weeks, you will also get access to a private Facebook group where you will be able to share recipes and food ideas, help each other make choices and keep other participants accountable. SCCF staff will also be in there sharing some of their tips for being successful.
